A Golden Quarter Century For St Benedict’s College

St Benedict’s College Rowing Club won its 25th consecutive South African Schools Rowing Championship title on Sunday, 4 March 2018.
 
On its way to making history, the school won all four Age Group Trophies and won the gold medals in the “Big Five:  1st Eight, 2nd Eight, U16 Eight, U15 Oct and U14 Oct.  The resounding victory consolidates St Benedict’s reputation as the best boy’s rowing school in the country – a title which has been undisputed for the past quarter of a century.

The highlight of the weekend was St Benedict’s College winning the First Eight event! Thato Mokoena, who coached the crew to victory, was beaming after the crew won by clear water.

Not only did St Benedict’s win the overall points trophy, but was also placed top of the medals table with 15 medals from 14 events!
