Support SAs Only Dedicated Private Childrens Sub-Acute Facility This Mandela Day
Completed in 2025, Lambano Children's Sub-Acute Facility Private is a 30-bed facility in Kensington South, Gauteng.Currently in Phase 2 of development, the facility requires essential medical equipment and ward furnishings before opening its doors.

As South Africans prepare to honour Mandela Day through acts of service and generosity, Lambano is inviting individuals, businesses, and community leaders to make an impact that lasts far beyond 67 minutes. Through its ‘Name a Ward’ initiative, supporters have the unique opportunity to leave a lasting legacy while helping bring to life South Africa’s only dedicated private children’s sub-acute facility.

Completed in 2025, the 30-bed facility in Kensington South, Gauteng, has been purpose- built to provide specialised medical, physical, and aqua rehabilitation services for children requiring continued care after discharge from private hospitals. The facility will bridge a critical gap in healthcare, supporting children on their journey from hospital to home.

Currently in Phase 2 of development, the facility requires essential medical equipment and ward furnishings before opening its doors. Once equipped, it will launch with 20 licensed beds and ultimately expand to accommodate 30 children at a time. Importantly, the facility has been designed with sustainability in mind.

Income generated through the sub-acute centre will help fund the ongoing work of Lambano Sanctuary, Lambano’s sister NGO, that supports children from underserved communities continue to receive free medical and palliative care for life-threatening and life-limiting illnesses.

This Mandela Day, Lambano is calling on organisations and individuals to become part of this legacy. By sponsoring a bedspace or naming an entire ward, donors will directly contribute to creating a place of healing, hope, and recovery for vulnerable children.

Sponsors of bedspaces will be recognised on the facility’s Donor Wall, while ward sponsors will have their name or company logo permanently displayed on both the Ward and Donor Walls—creating a lasting tribute to their commitment to children’s healthcare.

This July, don’t just give 67 minutes. Give a child a place to heal. Give families hope. Leave a legacy.
