The Academi Group has been launched at Wellness On Van Buuren Road, Bedfordview. The business is owned by Brett CrawCour, a celebrity stylist, trainer and mentor. The newly revamped space with an amazing view boasts The Academi for training, Academi Hair models and The Academi Salon with 16 stylist stations and a brand new Man Cave – a barber station for the gents. There is also a resident permanent make up artist (with 27 years experience) onsite.
The official opening took place in June and featured MorganBeatbox, an international celebrity beatboxer who has also won the South African beatbox championships. He is the only beatboxer worldwide that can produce a mind blowing eight sounds at the same time.
Brett has been a master stylist since 1988 and has had ongoing training with all the major professional haircare brands. A trend seeker who is always keen to stay on top of industry movements, he has been a platform artist for major brands such as Goldwell, Joico and Kevin Murphy, training stylists across South Africa for the past 19 years.
Brett is still a practising stylist, which affords him the ability to be in direct contact with clients and the salon environment on a daily basis. Understanding clients needs, market trends and business issues faced by most salons means that his training courses are very relevant. As a business mentor, he has helped a number of salon owners understand their businesses better, as well as enabling them to succeed quicker by implementing specific changes and ideas. He is very aware of the daily struggles and what it takes to grow a successful salon business.
The Academi offers training to stylists who are keen to improve and sharpen their skills in all the diverse areas of the salon experience. All courses are stand alone training classes that can be attended by stylists at any time that suits them during the month ( in which they have committed to). Stylists who perceive themselves weaker in certain areas are able to polish and hone their skills so as to become a better all-round stylist. There will also be monthly networking events where they can meet other stylists, salon owners and suppliers to the industry.
The Academi is also looking for hair models. This is not about having model faces or bodies. This is about amazing hair.
