Community And Organisations Assist Germiston Bedfordview SPCA Following Robbery

The Germiston Bedfordview SPCA has seen an outpouring of community support and donations following a robbery on 11 July at their premises. Martin Bester from Jacaranda FM featured the organisation on his breakfast show and donated R10,000 to them.

‘I would like to extend a very special thank you to Hannejie de Waal, whose post about our robbery went viral, and to each and every person who has selflessly donated and are still donating food, blankets, office supplies, appliances, funds and services that are so desperately needed,’ said Gregory Soares, Chairperson of the Bedfordview and Germiston SPCA.

‘Support has come in from near and far with donations from Lithuania, Australia and the United Kingdom. We are overwhelmed by the abundant kindness from so many people. In my years as a committee member, I have never seen or experienced the amount of support we have received. It is truly a blessing to be associated with such a wonderful and giving community. Regardless of the challenges you all face, you have given to our cause without question.’

King Brands installed two King Fix burglar bars on two of the SPCA’s front windows, as well as a King Fix security gate at their staff kitchen for free. These sturdy security additions will keep the society, their animals and their staff safe. Many people also dropped off donations at Mozambik Benoni – and this initiative is ongoing.

Donations can be made directly to the society:
