Local Business Steps Up For Charity With Donation To Rotary

Part of Practical Publishing's donation went to Rotary's Christmas In July initiative at Gerald Fitzpatrick Home.

Bedfordview-based Practical Publishing and its suppliers have donated R21,280 to Rotary Club of Knights Pendragon through their Step Up For Charity campaign. Each year, the expo team and suppliers step up for charity at the Sign Africa and FESPA Africa Johannesburg expos. Participants used their cellphones to track the number of steps taken during the expo week.

Graham Wallett, Past President of Rotary Club of Knights Pendragon said, ‘On behalf of all the members of Knights Pendragon, I would like to extend our sincere thanks and appreciation to Practical Publishing and their supporters for the very kind donation. We sincerely appreciate your support and even more, the long-standing relationship developed with yourselves over a considerable and sustained length of time.’

‘Our members are often reminded and then they marvel at your innovative initiative, ‘Step up for Charity’ which engages so successfully with your business networks to provide them with opportunities to meet their community needs by participating and donating. We regard your initiative as a clear example of what can be achieved by some clear ‘outside the box thinking’ and we recognise how effective it is by its ongoing contributions towards our community and charity projects. It is only through relationships like the one we enjoy with yourselves that our work can be done to the benefit of those less fortunate.’

The donation is being allocated as follows:
– R5000: Gerald Fitzpatrick Home – Christmas in July 2019 initiative. The mission of the Gerald Fitzpatrick Home is to provide a self, sustaining, independent and secure home for elderly ladies of limited means. In July of each year, the Rotary Club of Knights Pendragon organises a ‘Christmas in July’ lunch for the ladies, providing a turkey dinner, Christmas pudding, entertainment and a gift for each resident.
– R11,280: Cresset House: Water reticulation, irrigation and market garden project.
– R5000: Humanitarian Disaster Recovery Fund.
