Mahikeng (formerly called Mafeking and Mafikeng), is the North West province’s capital city. Like Rustenburg, Brits is an important mining area. It also offers crocodile cage diving. Nearby tourist attractions include the Ann van Dyk Cheetah Centre and the Vaalkop Dam Nature Reserve, where there are 340 recorded bird species.
