The Shuffling Walking Team recently hosted a successful Cancer Care and awareness family walk in Bedfordview sponsored by Nando’s, Roots, Big Save, Westpack Lifestyle, Rohlig-Grinrod, Otima Plastics, Amigos Portugueses Johannesburg and CMS Security, to name a few.
Maria Luz and Marinda Garrana are the founders of the group, alongside a team of 16 ladies. ‘We raised R700,000 and are busy counting final figures which are still to be released as we still have money trickling in. It is important for the group to let the community know that every little contribution helps make this a success,’ said the organisers.Â
‘All our sponsors help us put together an amazing event with an amazing outcome. A special thanks to Danny Painter, our MC from Jacaranda Radio. Most of our our sponsors have been with us since the inception of the walk and any contribution adds to the success of the event and the amount raised ultimately. Without the walkers and our sponsors, both big and small, we could not have accomplished what we have.’

– Hospice East Rand.
– Stepping Stone Hospice.
– CHOC childhood Cancer foundation.
– The Sunflower Fund.Â
The walk will take place next year on the last Sunday of July (26 July 2020) in Bedfordview.
