Review Teenagers Have A Smashing Time At The Smash Room In Linksfield

The first Smash Room in South Africa was established by Janice and Jackie Ogin in 2020 in Clarens when Covid hit. They wanted to create a safe and controlled space where anyone could let it all out and break some stuff. A branch in Linksfield was opened six months ago.

Participants are given protective clothing, goggles and helmets to wear, and everything is sanitised, including the glass bottles. All glass is donated by local restaurants and all smashed glass is donated to Recycling for Animal Welfare (RAW). All appliances are recycled too (The Smash Room does accept donations of old appliances). Each session is 20 to 30 minutes long, with cooldrinks and sweets on sale.

Verdict from a Mom: ‘My teenagers had fun at The Smash Room in Linksfield. It is a great holiday activity, team building or birthday party idea for anyone from the age of five years and older. Not only is this a great stress reliever, it’s a lot of fun smashing a car windscreen, old appliances and glass bottles. Janice and Jackie are a pleasure to deal with.’
