The Bedfordview community was deeply saddened by the loss of Alistair Mc Donald, who passed away on 2 March 2025. Many will remember him for his jokes and constant banter. His daughter, Nicola Mc Donald, matriculated with seven distinctions last year, despite her exams being written during the trauma of Alistair being highjacked and in hospital. Nicola dreams of attending Utrecht University in The Netherlands this coming September.
Community members have united to support Nicola’s aspiration to attend Utrecht University. Nicola’s resilience and ambition are a testament to Alistair’s enduring legacy. Nicola has received a 25% partial bursary to Utrecht University, but requires financial assistance to pay the full amount required to study further and fulfil her dream. Nicola’s vision, in her own words: ‘Inspired by my mother’s artistry and my father’s indomitable belief in ‘dreaming big,’ my childhood was painted with vibrant shades of ambition and possibility. My aspiration to explore and grow beyond familiar horizons is a tribute to the foundation they’ve laid for me – a legacy enriched by the support and kindness of each of you. As I embark on this journey, I carry with me not just their dreams, but the collective hope and support of everyone who believes in me.’
