The Edenvale Care Centre Hospice cares for terminally ill patients, many of whom are from rural areas and very poor communities. Their disease profile includes: hypertension, diabetes, cancer, cardiac issues, HIV/Aids, TB and stroke.
These patients are sent to the care centre from surrounding hospitals and clinics, who are unable to accommodate them and many of these patients have no families. They treat these patients for 21 days only, as they are not a long-term care facility.
Hospice is asking for donations as it relies heavily on the generosity of the community in the Edenvale and surrounding areas, as well as the support of the Department of Health to enable them to continue with the important work they do.
