Celebrate Mandela Day With The Virtual 67 Kilometre Challenge

Virtual Fitness Challenge (VFC) is organising a 67km Mandela Day Virtual Race Challenge, the first event of its kind in Africa. VFC is calling on walkers, runners and cyclists from South Africa and around the globe to join them in raising funds for the Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund by completing a virtual 67 kilometres on 18 July in any way you choose, and in your own time.

The online route will be uploaded for participants to follow virtually through iconic South African landmarks, starting at the Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund, Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital, Constitution Hill, Apartheid Museum, linking Lilliesleaf farm and ending in Vilakazi Street, Soweto at Nelson Mandela’s home.

Participants can track their progress on VFC’s platform, see their position in Google Street View and keep track of their competition and friends using VFC’s built-in leaderboards.

Online route.

Download your completion certificate at the end of the challenge, or sign up for the medal option – VFC will courier your medal to you as soon as you cross the finish line (applies to South Africa only).

How it works:

– Once you’ve entered the challenge, a challenge profile will automatically be created for you in the ‘My Virtual Mission’ mobile app. (Available for download in Google Play and Apple AppStore.)
– Automatically send distances to your virtual challenge from apps such as Runkeeper, Strava, Fitbit, and Map My Run/Ride/Walk/Fitness. Or manually enter them.
– Complete the challenge.
