Edenvale-based Brainy Birds, a non-profit animal welfare organisation, need funds to secure the premises they currently occupy. The land has been rented for the last five years but now the landowner is selling the land to move to America and has given the sanctuary first option to buy the land. However, the organisation lacks funds.
The organisation has until the end of November 2020 to raise the money to buy the space. Brainy Birds, which was founded by Dee Hendricks, provides a safe, loving environment for the recovery, conservation and life-long care of over 250 companion parrots. They have more than 250 birds in their care, and need help in raising funds to ensure their ongoing nutrition, comfort and wellbeing in a secure, eco-friendly and loving environment.Â
Misunderstood, mistreated, neglected or handicapped, various species of these pre-homed exotic birds have all been welcomed, fed, revived and loved. Some have been fortunate enough to find new, forever homes with families that have been equipped with the vital information needed to ensure their wellbeing. They rely on the love and dedication of a small team of full-time staff. The rest of the time it is the volunteers that sacrifice their time to come through and feed their flock.
Roger Harrison, an associate, supporter and regular donator to the sanctuary, has recently set-up a crowdfunding donation account for international donors to help raise the much-needed funds.
