Clean Village is a registered non-profit organisation (NPO) devoted to creating employment and cleaning the streets of Kensington and, once funding allows, the surrounding areas.
They are cleaning up rubbish (which Pikitup have agreed to remove), pulling out and spraying weeds and doing whatever they can to return Kensington to its former glory. They need monthly donations to help them continue their work – R100 per month makes a big difference. The organisation recently cleaned Kitchener Avenue, Cumberland Road and Montagu Street.
They clean as often as their budget allows – currently they have three employees working once or twice a week. Clean Village is a registered NPO, and as such they are completely reliant on donations to provide the service that they do. They are also a level 1 BEE compliant organisation.
