Edenvale-based Root-to-Success offers online tutorial classes to help children stay ahead of the academic year. The private tutoring business offers subjects ranging from primary right through to high school.
Alexis Crause and Caytlin Mitchell are enthusiastic about providing students with the skills to become self-sufficient learners who will move on to become great successes. Due to the lockdown, they are currently only offering online tutoring services. They are using Zoom for the lessons and will be offering this for as long as necessary.
Crause is a high school tutor while Mitchell is a primary school tutor. Mitchell decided to render this service because, ‘I have always had a passion for mathematics, and even more so for teaching this subject. This is how Root to Success came about. Due to Covid-19, we started tutoring online, and have continued since we have experienced such success and great feedback.’Â
They cover all primary school subjects and grades.
High school subjects covered:
– Mathematics (Grade 8-12).
– English (Grade 8-12).
– Science (Grade 8 and 9).
How they work: they often ask their students to send photos of their work, which can be done via email or WhatsApp. Furthermore, they often send students photos of their own solutions. With this system in place, it makes it easier for communication between students and themselves.
‘We truly care about our students. If a student has a positive mindset, they are able to learn and achieve. We always encourage our students and ensure they have positive thoughts about their academics,’ said Mitchell.
‘My students inspire me. Their achievements make me smile and seeing them achieve means I am too. They are all very close to my heart, and I am always their biggest supporter,’ said Mitchell.
