As car guards could not work during lockdown and many were left without incomes, Bedfordview resident Mary-Anne Felcia shared a post on the Basically Bedfordview group asking fellow residents to donate to six car guards from Village View shopping centre.

‘I have no idea how they are going to feed themselves and their families during the lockdown,’ Felcia wrote at the time. With the help of residents and Basically Bedfordview group members, she managed to raise R5340.

‘A huge thank you to the wonderful and generous people that donated money for the car guards. The money enabled us to give R890 to each car guard. Thank you once again for your generosity. Each guard sent a ‘Thank you and God bless’ message. I am truly grateful to you all,’ said Felcia in her update post.
