Urban Spaces is a unique concept store that aims to provide entrepreneurs and small business owners with the opportunity to have their brand present within big shopping centre environments. The main goal is to increase exposure for the featured brands.
Eastgate General Manager, Kelly Belman, commented: ‘We are extremely proud to be supporting South African creators and providing so many local small business owners with an opportunity to trade in Eastgate Shopping Centre. The Urban Spaces store is an exceptional concept, and we encourage the public to support local entrepreneurs and small businesses.’
Many of the business owners featured within the store relied on markets or street corners to sell their items. ‘I am so grateful to have my items being sold,’ said Christine Gamu, one of the featured small business owners. Gamu crochets animal toys to support her family. She added, ‘More people have access to my goods, so it is helping me make more sales. Another big advantage for me is that even if it is raining or very cold and windy, people can still buy my goods (unlike on the street corner).’
Urban Spaces is located on the Upper Level next to Lindt, opposite Clicks.
